Thought of the week

A Happy New Year to you all, here's hoping you enjoy your best ever year on and off the golf course. We don't wish to start the year on a negative, but let's face it, the weather isn't looking too great is it?!

With this in mind, we know many of you have taken to the range to work on your game. If you are doing so, rather than taking a bucket of balls and swinging away aimlessly, give yourself a goal. It takes no time at all to crack your way through 30 or 60 balls, but what are you hoping to achieve by the end of it? Too many amateur golfers make this common mistake.

We have some ways of helping you to improve your range time. Come and speak to the team because we can identify areas of your game where you can improve and offer drills to help you get there. Not only will goals help you focus more on what you're trying to achieve, but it will make hitting balls a touch more rewarding as well.

Click here to get in touch if you have any questions about how you can utilise your practice time.

Just as a little reminder on Pitch Marks. If you see one, please repair it, as this can significantly help the growth and condition of the course, and make it more enjoyable for you.

Competition news

There were a number of Competitions played over the Christmas/New Year period. Our congratulations goes to James Barham for winning the January Medal with an excellent score of nett 71 in testing conditions. James' handicap has now been reduced to 8.8!

There were only 8 competitors in the Ladies Stableford as it was pretty wet and windy in the morning, Well done to everyone who was brave enough to play and especially to Sarah Gordon who won Division 1 with a score of 25 points and to Pam Dudgeon for winning Division 2 with a score of 27 points.

Tim Turner won the mid-week Stableford with a score of 31 points. Well done to everyone that has played in any of the competitions, scoring has proved incredibly tough due to wet and windy conditions.

Enjoy the rest of the newsletter and have a great weekend.
